Artist and calligrapher Betsy Dunlap’s lettering revolves around discovering beauty in the imperfect, and she is renowned for her whimsical and original style, having had a hand in transforming the modern calligraphy scene. Betsy has been commissioned for a wide variety of projects, including elaborate wedding invitation suites, editorial features, corporate logos, hundreds of custom tattoos, letterpress stationery, and work as simple as envelopes for a child’s birthday celebration.
Betsy has had the immense pleasure of working for a variety of inspiring clients, including Martha Stewart Omnimedia, the Guggenheim Museum, Barney’s NY, Loeffler Randall, Better Homes and Gardens, Harper Collins, and Conde Nast.
Based in Tucson, Arizona, where she was born and raised, Betsy works with clients all over the globe. She loves dwelling in the desert with her husband and three children and their beloved cat, Sebastian. In her spare time she loves burying herself in a good book, making quilts for her family, cooking and baking new recipes, attempting to garden, and dreaming of the next place her family will travel. Her online shop is called Litterae– which means “letterform” in Latin.
